Meals of Hope
ROTARY CLUBS ACROSS DELAWARE AND MARYLAND’S EASTERN SHORE TAKE ACTION AGAINST COMMUNITY HUNGER, SEEK COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Rotarians are “People of Action” and the more than 1350 members in Rotary clubs across Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore are uniting to fight hunger on the Delmarva Peninsula in the next 60 days.
The 39 Rotary clubs in District 7630 are gearing up for a day of service and unity with Meals of Hope plans now underway. Meals of Hope will see District Rotarians and volunteers come together at five locations across the peninsula to pack and distribute more than 250,000 fortified meals to local food pantries on Saturday, October 16.
Under the leadership of District Governor Hugh Dawkins of Easton, MD, each club and its partner clubs in one of five areas of the District are raising money to fund the meals they will then assemble and pack. Community members, businesses and religious organizations who would like to support the effort are welcome and invited to contribute time and dollars as partners in this event. A tax-deductible donation of $60 supports over 200 meals; a gift of $500 supports a family of four with three meals a day for four months. All gifts make a difference in the lives of our neighbors and friends for whom food insecurity is a daily issue.
